Sam hadn't been out this way in a long time. Under other circumstances, he might have been looking forward to seeing Bobby again, but that was before he started traveling with something they normally be more inclined to hunt than buddy up with. This wasn't just any vampire though, this was Dean, and hopefully... hopefully Bobby would get that. At least hopefully not try to stake him on sight.
Either way, they were at the end of what they could do on their own. Eric had given them a place to really start from, but Bobby was definitely the guy who could lead them in the right direction when it came to tracking down and killing the demon. Dad wasn't going to help them and Sam wasn't going to call begging him for it... that really would put Dean in danger. Last time they met, he looked about ready to stake Dean if he hadn't been there.
Fidgeting a little in his seat, Sam found himself feeling over his neck again, checking it in the mirror for the hundredth time. He knew he didn't have any visible marks. They couldn't risk that one again with another hunter, even if it was Bobby. He just couldn't help the nagging worry that he'd know anyway, somehow, that Dean fed on him. Hell, that he fed on Dean.
Even if Sam had been trying to lay off the blood for this visit. No way was he showing up strung out on vampire blood either... even if he'd been almost tempted to ask for it. Something to ease up his nerves. Not a smart move though.
When they made the turn into Bobby's, he gave Dean a look over. "So, you ready for this?"

When they made the turn into Bobby's, he gave Dean a look over. "So, you ready for this?"

He pushed up from his chair and headed for the kitchen.

"We have to find something." And hopefully, without having to go back to any other vampires for help.

"Thanks, Dean..."

"Hey, Bobby? Think I'm gonna crash for awhile."

And that Bobby had left him be... maybe even started to feel more at ease around him. That might be asking for too much though.
Running a hand through his hair, he made his way groggily back downstairs. Coffee. He needed coffee and then he'd hit the books again.

He watched Dean set up a side storage room in the basement for his daytime resting place. Bobby provided an old camping cot and some clean sheets for the venture. He'd been meaning to make use of that room sooner or later. Seeing Dean moving around in it just reminded him of his plans. Maybe after the boys left.
The boys. So hard not to think of them just like he always had.
By the time Sam got up, Bobby had fresh coffee on and was elbow deep in research. So far, it wasn't turning up much.
"Mornin', sunshine."

"Any luck so far?" And after a brief pause while he dragged over a book... "Did Dean get settled in okay?"
no subject
"No luck yet. Seems like demons are the sort of things you don't really plan for. You just kind of end up neck deep in trouble all the sudden." Which made the Winchesters uniquely qualified, since they had a knack for trouble to beat all.
"I can try to go back and dig up whatever your dad's asked me for that wasn't case related and see what you make of it, but I can't promise you that'll do you any good, either. John Winchester's about the most cagey son of a bitch I've ever met. Nothing he does is ever completely clear and up front."

The news didn't do a lot to brighten up his mood though. He wasn't surprised... Dad had been at this for how long now? He hadn't found any answers overnight. Sam could bet that he had something that he wasn't sharing with them now thoug...
"That'd be helpful, if you could, Bobby. I'd appreciate anything at this point." He brought his coffee up to his lips, eyeing the research.
"Let me finish this and I'll hit the books again, give you a hand."

He poured himself another cup of coffee and headed out of the kitchen. "I'll meet you in the study."

Grabbing another cup of coffee, Sam went to settle back into the study and grab some books. Sooner they found something, sooner they could get back on the road.

It was a popular theory among hunters that it was just a smoke screen and that vampires were really still feeding on humans to live.
no subject
"That doesn't mean they all live off it entirely though. But there are plenty of people who like being bit for the kicks. I'm sure you've heard people talking about it."
no subject
"Don't know that you'll find any of it here in town. Might have to drive a bit." At least, he'd never seen it in any of the stores he'd been to.
no subject
"I'll look later. Still a bit before he'll wake up anyway." Right now, he just wanted to focus on the research and hoped that they found something this time.

In the meantime, Bobby would just focus his attention on the research. It was safer that way. Although, his traitorous brain didn't let that last long. Questions were still bubbling in his mind. Finally, he looked back up and over at Sam. "I take it John doesn't know about Dean yet?"
