Sam hadn't been out this way in a long time. Under other circumstances, he might have been looking forward to seeing Bobby again, but that was before he started traveling with something they normally be more inclined to hunt than buddy up with. This wasn't just any vampire though, this was Dean, and hopefully... hopefully Bobby would get that. At least hopefully not try to stake him on sight.
Either way, they were at the end of what they could do on their own. Eric had given them a place to really start from, but Bobby was definitely the guy who could lead them in the right direction when it came to tracking down and killing the demon. Dad wasn't going to help them and Sam wasn't going to call begging him for it... that really would put Dean in danger. Last time they met, he looked about ready to stake Dean if he hadn't been there.
Fidgeting a little in his seat, Sam found himself feeling over his neck again, checking it in the mirror for the hundredth time. He knew he didn't have any visible marks. They couldn't risk that one again with another hunter, even if it was Bobby. He just couldn't help the nagging worry that he'd know anyway, somehow, that Dean fed on him. Hell, that he fed on Dean.
Even if Sam had been trying to lay off the blood for this visit. No way was he showing up strung out on vampire blood either... even if he'd been almost tempted to ask for it. Something to ease up his nerves. Not a smart move though.
When they made the turn into Bobby's, he gave Dean a look over. "So, you ready for this?"

Sam needed answers, though. Dean could feel his frustration and need for revenge crystal clear over their bond every time Sam thought about Jessica. Dean wasn't so sure that going up against a demon was the wisest course of action, but for Sam, he'd do a lot of crazy things.
Dean drove up the driveway to Bobby's house and parked in their customary spot. They hadn't told Bobby they were coming, but the old hunter always sort of had a sixth sense about these things, so Dean figured he knew somehow. He looked over at Sam.
"I'll wait out here." Bobby wouldn't hurt Sam for anything, but Dean wasn't so sure Bobby wouldn't stake him just to be safe. Until they determined how Bobby was going to handle it, it was probably better if Dean didn't approach the house.
no subject
He shifted from foot to foot while he waited, looking down at his feet absently. Hopefully he'd answer the door.
And hopefully, his first instinct wouldn't be to murder Dean when he found out -- if he hadn't already heard from Dad or somebody what was going on.
no subject
And since he couldn't think of why Sam would suddenly show up at his doorstep without calling first, he was a little on edge. He opened the door to the boy and peered out. "Sam. Good to see ya."
no subject
"Hey, Bobby. Good to see you too." He shifted his weight a little bit, gave a look back towards the Impala absently before he looked back.
"Do you think I could come in for awhile?"
no subject
He stepped aside and let Sam walk in. Walking in was the first test. Between the wards and protective symbols around the front door, if there was anything hitchhiking in Sam, that'd be the first indication.
no subject
Well, unless you count some of the stuff he did with Dean, but that wasn't really his business.
"Sorry for dropping in like this, but I, uh... I'm tracking something big, Bobby, and I don't know who else to turn to. You're all I got. I think Dad's making sure no one else even thinks about giving me any information." And he wasn't about to return Sam's calls either.
no subject
Of course, he knew about Sam's girl, but he'd been kind of hoping Sam would stay out of the life anyway. No such luck there, apparently. Boy had too much of his daddy in him.
no subject
He wished he hadn't had to get back in the game, but there was no getting out until all this was taken care of... then maybe he could focus on something else. "I need whatever you can give me on them. What to look for, how to take care of them... anything."
no subject
Not that he figured that would stop a Winchester. Stubborn to the bone, that family. And speaking of stubborn... "Been hearing a strange rumor these days. Seems there's a hunter out there running around with a vampire companion. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"

"Yeah, alright. Be back before dark." Bobby might have been willing to keep an open mind, but that didn't mean he wanted to be alone in a house with a waking, hungry vampire.
no subject
Bobby knew what he was talking about. It took forever to track down some blood for Dean. None of the stores carried it close by. He did eventually find some and managed to get back to Bobby's before dark like he'd promised.
It was still afternoon by the time he made it through the door, carrying the back of blood in his arm. He went to put it in the fridge.
no subject
He watched Sam carry the blood in and stick it in the fridge. "Stuff looks nasty."
no subject
"So, what's the plan now? Need some more help?
no subject
"Think you can hold down the fort for that long?"
no subject
Besides, it passed the time while he waited for Dean to wake up. They needed to figure out what to do next, if Bobby really couldn't find anything for them.

"Definitely won't miss sleeping under motel beds. You can go back to school." Dean wanted to see Sam happy. See him get that normal life he wanted. Even if it meant finding some pretty law school girl to settle down with one day.
no subject
Even better, Dean wasn't fighting him every step of the way on going back to school, wasn't trying to keep him hunting after this.
He shifted up to kiss under Dean's jaw lightly. They were in the car, no where anyone could really see them. Figured they could get away with that. "Love you. And thanks, man, for the school stuff... for everything."

He looked around when Dean decided to pull off the main road and gave a curious look. "Something in mind?"
no subject
Ah, there. Dean pulled off the small road onto a dirt top, access road and the pulled off onto the shoulder. With the dense trees around and as far as they were from town, they should be just fine her a while. Dean couldn't hear a sign of a human around for miles. None but Sam.
Dean slipped out from behind the wheel and wrapped his arms around Sam, kissing him slow and deep.
no subject
A little detour wouldn't hurt though and Sam wasn't going to protest it. Bobby hopefully wouldn't question if they got back a little later than he thought either.
He leaned into that kiss and brought his arms around Dean. One hand rubbed up his back while the other tangled through his hair. Sam let out a soft, pleased noise. It hadn't really been that long since they'd done this, but it never got old to feel Dean up against him or to be able to touch him however he wanted.
no subject
He shifted to straddle Sam's lap, fingers nimbly opening the buttons on his shirt while he ground his hips against his brother's. He drew back abruptly as his fangs descended... didn't want to hurt Sam with them. Then he leaned in again, kissing him once more.
no subject
"Dean," he murmured, moving from his lips to Dean's jaw and neck to explore.
